My methodology
Influences in my training, coaching, and facilitation
Emotional Intelligence/ Social and Emotional Learning
As a qualified emotional intelligence practitioner, I use emotional literacy to build self-awareness, self-management, and to build empathy and relationship skills. In Emotional Intelligence, we explore naming and understanding emotions and using emotions for more effective decision making.
Self-Compassion
I use self-compassion frameworks to help individuals develop a healthier relationship with themselves so that they can become their own advocate rather than their adversary. In this skill we explore self-kindness, mindfulness, and common humanity to combat negative self-talk, emotional and cognitive overload, and isolation.
Strengths, Values, and Purpose
I help individuals and teams discover and use their strengths so that they can embrace the use of their unique capacities. Combined with an examination of values, strengths work leads to discovery of purpose and legacy. In this skill we explore how strengths, values, and purpose can help us make professional and personal choices in alignment with the impact we want to leave in the world.
Authenticity/ Finding your Voice
Authenticity is a process of discovering and accepting who you are by learning to let go of who you think you are supposed to be and embrace who you really are. This process allows us to examine, challenge, and ultimately let go of the scripts we have around who we are supposed to be. In this skill we examine long held beliefs about ourselves and decide which of those beliefs serve us and let go of those don't in order to live, work, and play in a ways that feel right.
Courage
The process of growth requires courage but often courage is seen as something that belongs to our heroes and not to us. Courage at it's heart is the willingness compared to your level of fear. Personal courage theory explores how we can engage in acts of courage that overcome individual limitations or fears. In this skill we learn how to take small acts of courage that ultimately help us get where we want to be.
Resilience
Resilience is a set of skills that can be developed to help you bounce back more effectively from set backs. Change, even the change we want, can be challenging. In this topic, we will develop these internal and external skills to help you stay resilient in the face of the changes you want to bring into your life.
Relationships
Connection is one of the most essential elements of our well-being. I use the science of connection to highlight the importance and then teach a range of skills to help you have stronger, healthier, more fullfilling relationships. In these skills can be used to help build stronger relationships, but also with the understanding that high quality relationships are a tool for your well-being.
Vulnerability
A long time devotee of Brene Brown, I know that vulnerability is the key to an authentic, meaningful, and purposeful life. Vulnerability requires authenticity and courage and will mean showing up as our authentic selves despite the uncertainty about we will be received. This skill can be leveraged to improve and deepen your relationships and connection to your work and life.
Growth Mindset
Developing a growth mindset helps us be better learners and leaders. When we intentionlly cultivate our growth mindset we are driven by a desire to learn (versus being right, competent, smart or perfect)Â which helps us take on and persist in the face challenges, see effort as the route to mastery, and learn from criticism and the successes of others.
Well-being frameworks
The science and study of Well-being has resulted in frameworks that can help us reflect on our well-being and take proactive steps to improving our relationship with ourselves and the world around us. The frameworks give us a common language to talk about the intangible. These frameworks can be used to influence individual actions, group dynamics, or at a policy level.
